Meet Malik Ashraf
Malik’s background in Computer Science, Real Estate, Petroleum Land Administration, Business Operations, Management and Banking has exposed him to a wide breadth of sectors in Calgary over the past three decades. In addition to his impressive professional background, Malik has dedicated a significant amount of his life to community leadership and volunteer projects in the Calgary and surrounding areas.Most notably, he is the Board of Director of Calgary Interfaith Council (CIC), an organization that hosts the Interfaith Harmony Week on an annual basis. Along the same cause in the spirit of collaboration and bringing people together, Malik was also an active volunteer with Love With Humanity, an organization that initiates various projects in many communities. These include holiday celebrations with senior citizens, clothing and food drives for those experiencing homelessness, road and park clean-up, resources for immigrants, and more.
A Strong History
He has also been active in community cleanup projects in NE Calgary for the past several years and initiated the Clean and Green Calgary Campaign with his passion for the environment.
Contributing to safer communities, Malik Ashraf is also actively engaged with the Calgary Police Service on various community issues and serves as a bridge between Calgarians and the CPS.
Furthermore, his dedication to volunteer work for youth in Calgary was demonstrated with his leadership to construct a Community Youth Hub Centre in NW Calgary and volunteering annually with a youth camp
He is also active in his role in the Board of Directors of the Muslim Cemetery of Calgary. He was the founder of Al Madinah Calgary Islamic Assembly, Al Makkah Calgary Islamic Center, Al Madinah Chestermere Islamic Center, and Jamia Masjid Riyadhul Jannah in Airdrie, amongst others.During his time serving his community, he was able to connect with youth from diverse backgrounds as well and learn about their experiences in the K-12 education system. Some of the glaring gaps between students, families and communities emerged through his conversations with young Calgarians prompting Malik to put his name forward to improve the quality of education in our city.
